Viksit Bharat – AAU Ag Techathon is a university-wide innovation challenge designed to discover bold agricultural ideas from students of Assam Agricultural University. The program will mentor promising student innovators and select the Top 10 agri-tech ideas for national nomination and further development.

About the Techathon


Agriculture is entering a new era driven by technology, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. The Viksit Bharat - AAU Ag Techathon provides a platform for students to develop innovative solutions addressing real-world agricultural challenges. Through a structured process involving idea submission, expert screening, mentorship bootcamps, and final pitching, the event will identify high-potential innovations that can contribute to India’s vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).


Students will gain exposure to innovation frameworks, startup thinking, and real-world problem solving, while receiving guidance from faculty, industry experts, and the university incubator.

The Techathon aims to:

β€’ Provide structured mentorship and innovation training

β€’ Select Top 10 ideas for national-level nomination

β€’ Build an entrepreneurial mindset among agricultural youth

Who Can Apply

The Techathon is open to all students of Assam Agricultural University.



Eligibility

β€’ UG, PG, and PhD students from all AAU campuses

β€’ Individual participants or teams of up to 3 members

β€’ Each team can submit one innovation idea



Thematic Tracks

Students can submit ideas under the following innovation tracks:

β€’ Climate Smart Agriculture

β€’ Agri AI & Digital Farming

β€’ Mechanization & Robotics

β€’ Agri Processing & Value Addition

β€’ Agri Finance & Carbon Markets



Techathon Structure


The Techathon will run in four key phases:


Phase 1: Call for Applications - 11th May - 17th May


Students submit their innovation ideas through the application portal - https://neatehub.accubate.app/ext/form/23316/1/apply


Submissions include:


β€’ Problem statement

β€’ Proposed solution

β€’ Innovation level

β€’ Market potential

β€’ Alignment with Viksit Bharat

β€’ Optional 2-minute idea video



Phase 2: Screening & Shortlisting


Applications will be evaluated by a three-member screening committee including:


β€’ Senior faculty member

β€’ Industry expert

β€’ Incubator representative


Evaluation criteria:

β€’ Innovation

β€’ Feasibility

β€’ Scalability

β€’ Impact on farmers



The Top 30 ideas will be shortlisted.



Phase 3: Innovation Grooming Bootcamp


Shortlisted teams will participate in an online 5-day structured mentorship bootcamp.


Topics include:


β€’ Understanding the future of agriculture

β€’ Design thinking for agri innovation

β€’ Business model development

β€’ Technology validation & prototyping

β€’ Go-to-market strategies

β€’ Pitch preparation


Mentors will include faculty members, NEATEHUB experts, and industry professionals.


Participants will prepare a 10-slide startup-style pitch deck.


Phase 4: Final Pitch Day

Finalists will present their ideas before an expert jury.


Pitch format:


β€’ 5-minute presentation

β€’ 5-minute Q&A with jury


Based on evaluation scores, the Top 10 ideas will be selected.
